Terms of Service
Last updated: October 22, 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and ImproveCV, registered in the Netherlands under Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 42138603 ("we", "us"). They cover your use of improvecv.ai and its services (the "Service"). By creating an account, buying a plan or otherwise using the Service, you accept them. If you use the Service for an organization, you confirm you may bind it, and "you" means that organization.
If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in still applies wherever it gives you more than these Terms, including the legal guarantee that the Service conforms to them. See sections 3.6, 8.4 and 13.
1. The Service
ImproveCV is an online platform for creating, editing and improving resumes. It currently includes:
- A resume editor with templates you edit on the page.
- AI suggestions for lines and sections, applied only if you choose.
- A resume score.
- Tailoring a resume to a job description.
- Job search across listings from a third-party provider (Beta).
- Importing a resume from LinkedIn or a file.
- PDF export, and cloud storage of your resumes.
We may add, change or withdraw features. Section 9 covers changes that materially reduce a paid plan.
1.1 Beta features
Features marked "Beta" are unfinished. They may change, be withdrawn or give unreliable results, and come without warranty or availability commitment. Do not rely on a Beta feature when deciding to buy.
1.2 Other companies
Some features rely on providers we do not control, such as OpenAI (AI), Apify (LinkedIn import and job listings) and Stripe (payments). If one fails or restricts us, the feature may be degraded or unavailable. Except as stated in section 8.4, we are not responsible for those providers. Our Privacy Policy lists who receives your data.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16. To buy a paid plan or a credits pack, you must be 18, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.
- You need a valid, verified email address to use every feature.
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at support@improvecv.ai if you think someone else has access.
- Keep your account information accurate.
- One account per person, not shared. Do not open extra accounts to collect free credits.
3. Plans, pricing and payment
3.1 Credits
Credits pay for features that call a paid outside service for you: AI suggestions, AI Review, tailoring a resume to a job (see 3.2), Resume Score and live job search (see 3.2; a search that finds nothing is free). Nothing else costs credits on any plan: creating, editing and storing resumes, every template and editing feature, PDF downloads, uploads, reading scans and LinkedIn import. The credit cost of each action, shown on our Pricing page, in Settings and in the editor, is part of these Terms. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and are refunded only as part of a refund of the payment that granted them (sections 3.6, 3.7, 9 and 10).
3.2 Free plan
The Free plan includes every template and editing feature, unlimited downloads, two new resumes (every resume you create counts, also after it is deleted) and 50 credits. The credits are granted once for the life of the account: not monthly, and not again if you later leave a paid plan. When they run out, everything free keeps working. If you subscribe with some left, they are added to your plan's first month and used first.
Job search and tailoring come with the paid plans and credits packs (3.9). The Free plan also includes, once for the life of the account and at their usual credit cost, one tailored resume and one job search: one set of search terms and filters, and the results of that one search. More results, or other terms or filters, need a paid plan or a credits pack. If your first search finds nothing, you get it back, once.
Without an account, the Resume Score page scores one resume per internet connection every 30 days. After that, scoring needs an account and costs credits.
3.3 Paid plans
- Pro: $12 a month, with 600 credits and up to 20 new resumes a month.
- Max: from $48 a month, with 3,000 credits and up to 100 new resumes a month. Larger credit amounts cost more; yours is shown at checkout and in Settings.
Both include every template and unlimited downloads. Every resume you create counts toward the month's new resumes, also after it is deleted; the count starts again each month on your billing day, when your credits are restored. Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax; where it applies, VAT or sales tax for your billing country is added at checkout. Stripe processes payments, and we never see your full card number.
Your credits are restored in full each month on your billing day: the day of the month your subscription started, or the last day of a shorter month. On Pro, unused credits do not carry over, except on an upgrade. On Max, each month's credits last two months: what you have not used carries into the next month, up to one month's credits, and the older credits are used first. Credits carried over end with the plan.
Upgrading (more credits a month) applies at once. You pay the new plan's full price for a full month, and that day becomes your billing day. The rest of your old period is not refunded in money; instead, the credits left in your old allowance carry over in full on top of the new ones for that month. You see the exact amount before you confirm. Moving down (fewer credits a month) takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for; you keep your current plan until then.
3.4 Billing and renewal
- Paid plans renew automatically every month on your billing day (see 3.3) until you cancel.
- You authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method on that basis until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time in Settings. Your plan keeps running until the end of the period you have paid for. A plan whose renewal payment is failing ends at once when cancelled (see 3.5).
3.5 Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, we email you and Stripe retries your card over the following days. Your plan stays active for up to 14 days meanwhile; new monthly credits arrive once the payment goes through. You can update your card in Settings > Billing or pay from the link in the email. If every retry fails, your account moves to the Free plan; nothing you created is deleted. Cancelling while a payment is failing ends the plan at once, and the failed payment is not taken.
Card disputes. While a dispute with your bank is open, the plan's credits are on hold, the plan is set to end at the end of the paid period, and plan changes, new plans, credits packs and the self-service refund in 3.7 wait. If the dispute is decided in our favour, the hold is lifted and a plan still running continues; one that has reached its end date stays ended, and you can subscribe again. If it is decided in yours, the plan ends at once and your account moves to the Free plan. We email you when a dispute opens, when it is decided in your favour, and when it is decided in ours after your plan has ended. A dispute about a credits pack puts its credits on hold, as many as you have left; they come back if it is decided in our favour and are removed if it is decided in yours.
3.6 Changes to prices and credits
We may change prices, the credits a plan includes and the credit cost of actions. If a change raises your price, cuts your credits or raises a credit cost, we email you first, and it applies from your first renewal at least 30 days after that email. You can cancel before then and never pay the new price. A higher credit cost also applies to the credits you hold from a credits pack: within 30 days of that email you can ask us to refund those you have not used.
3.7 Your right of withdrawal
You can withdraw within 14 days of the start of each subscription, without giving a reason: use Withdraw from contract in Settings > Billing, or send any clear statement to support@improvecv.ai. A change of plan, such as an upgrade, is not a new subscription and does not start a new 14 days. When you withdraw, the subscription ends at once and your account moves to the Free plan; nothing you created is deleted. We confirm each withdrawal by email, with the date and time we received it. For consumers in the EU, EEA and UK this is the statutory right of withdrawal; we give it to every customer.
You pay for what you used. When you buy, you tick a box to ask us to start at once, during the withdrawal period, and to agree that if you withdraw you pay for what you used; we record when you ticked it. A plan gives you credits, so you get back the share of what you paid that matches the credits you have not used. For example, if you paid $12 for Pro's 600 credits and used 150, you get $9 back; used all 600, nothing comes back. If you paid more than once since the subscription started (an upgrade), you get back that share of everything you paid, over all the credits those payments included. If you believe the amount is out of proportion to what you received, tell us, and we charge no more than the market value of what you used. Settings normally shows the amount before you confirm. We refund it to the card, or the account credit, you paid with, within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal.
The same applies to each credits pack (3.9): within 14 days of buying it, use Withdraw from contract next to the credits pack in Settings > Billing, or send any clear statement to support. The box you tick when you buy it asks us to add its credits and resumes at once. We take back its credits you have not used, as many as your credits pack balance still holds, and its new resumes the same way, and refund the same share of what you paid: paid $7 for 200 credits and used 100, you get $3.50 back. Once they are all used, nothing is refunded.
The refund is automatic once per account, email address and card, for a plan or a credits pack; a full refund made by our support counts as that one. After that, or while a card dispute is open, the button still takes your withdrawal (a subscription ends at once; the unused credits of a credits pack are taken back) and our support team makes the refund by hand within 14 days, on the same terms.
Model withdrawal form. Optional: the button in Settings, or any clear email, works too.

3.8 Discount codes
Discount codes are single-use unless stated otherwise, cannot be combined, have no cash value, and do not expire unless an expiry date is given. They apply to plans, not to credits packs. We may withdraw a code that is misused.
3.9 Credits packs
A credits pack is a one-time purchase of credits, on any plan, with no subscription and nothing that renews. Its price and size are on our Pricing page; tax is added at checkout where it applies. Credits from a credits pack do not expire. They are always used after your plan's own credits (or the Free plan's). On the Free plan a credits pack also opens tailoring and live job search beyond the one of each that the Free plan includes (3.2), while it holds at least their credit cost. Each credits pack also adds six new resumes, which do not expire either and are used once your plan's own new resumes are (3.2, 3.3). A credits pack that is refunded or withdrawn, or held in a card dispute, takes its new resumes back the way it takes its credits: as many as you have left. A credits pack does not change your plan. Credits from a credits pack end with your account if you delete it; if we close it for a reason other than your misuse, we refund those you have not used (section 10).
4. Content and intellectual property
4.1 Your content stays yours
You keep full ownership of what you create or upload. We do not use it to train AI models, and our AI provider does not either, under its terms with us.
4.2 The permission you give us
You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, display, reformat and process your content only to provide the Service to you, including sending the relevant parts to the processors in our Privacy Policy. It ends when you delete the content or your account (after the short backup period in the Privacy Policy), and never lets us publish, sell or share your content for anything else.
4.3 What you promise about your content
- You have the right to use it, and using it here infringes no one's rights.
- The claims in your resume are true and not misleading.
- You have a lawful basis for any other person's data you add, such as a referee's contact details.
4.4 Our platform
The Service, including its design, templates, code, text and logos, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, reverse-engineer or make derivative works from any part of it, except where the law allows.
4.5 Templates
Templates are licensed to you for your own resumes. The resumes you make are yours to use as you like; the templates themselves may not be redistributed, resold or repurposed.
4.6 Feedback
We may use your feedback freely, without payment.
5. AI features
- AI features make suggestions. Nothing in your resume changes until you apply one, and you can undo it.
- AI output can be wrong, outdated, generic or unsuitable. We do not warrant its accuracy, completeness, originality or fitness for any purpose.
- You are responsible for everything in your final resume, including every claim, date and figure, whoever wrote it.
- AI features are not career, legal, immigration, tax or employment advice.
- We do not guarantee that any applicant tracking system will parse your resume, or that it will lead to a response, an interview or a job.
- Similar inputs can give different users similar suggestions; no suggestion is guaranteed unique to you.
- The resume score is automatic and informational. It makes no decision about you and has no legal or similarly significant effect.
6. Job search (Beta)
- Listings come from a third-party provider. We do not create, verify or endorse them or their employers, or vouch for their accuracy, availability, legality or pay.
- We are not a recruiter, an employment agency or a party to any application.
- Listings may be out of date, duplicated, mis-categorised or removed.
- Apply at your own risk, and never send an advertiser money or financial details. Report a listing you think is fraudulent to support@improvecv.ai and we will pass it on.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Create fraudulent or misleading resumes, or misrepresent your qualifications, history or identity.
- Impersonate anyone, upload someone's personal data without a lawful basis, or import a LinkedIn profile that is not your own.
- Get around credit limits, sign-in, payment or security measures, including with multiple accounts.
- Use bots or scrapers beyond ordinary personal use, or extract our templates, prompts or listings in bulk.
- Resell the Service or offer it to others as your own.
- Upload malicious code, or probe, load-test or interfere with the Service.
- Produce unlawful, defamatory, harassing or unlawfully discriminatory content.
- Break any applicable law, regulation or sanctions regime.
We may investigate suspected breaches and suspend access meanwhile.
Reporting illegal content. Anyone can report content on the Service they believe is illegal, by email to support@improvecv.ai. Say where it is and why it is illegal, give your name and email address (not needed to report child sexual abuse material), and confirm that you report in good faith. We confirm that we received it, decide with care and without delay, and tell you what we decided and how to challenge it.
How we moderate. We do not screen your content in advance. We act on reports and on what we find when we look into a breach. A person, not an automated system, decides to remove content, or to restrict, suspend or close an account, for breaking these Terms or the law.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
8.1 The Service as it is
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express, implied or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or achieve any result. For consumers, this does not limit the legal guarantee of conformity.
8.2 Outcomes
We are not responsible for hiring decisions, interview outcomes, application results, or anything an employer, recruiter or applicant tracking system does with a resume made, scored, tailored or exported with the Service.
8.3 Limitation of liability
If you use the Service for your business, not as a consumer, then to the extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profit, revenue, business, opportunity, savings, reputation, goodwill, job offers or applications.
- Our total liability for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the event, or $100.
- We are not liable for lost content you could have kept, for example with the export in Settings.
If you are a consumer, these limits do not apply to you. Whoever you are, keep copies of anything important: the export in Settings makes that easy.
8.4 What we never exclude
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Intent or wilful recklessness (opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid).
- Anything else the law does not let us limit, including your mandatory consumer rights.
Where the law does not allow part of section 8.1 or 8.3, the rest still applies.
9. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update these Terms. For a change that materially affects your rights or your paid plan, we give at least 30 days' notice by email or in the Service, and it applies when that period ends. Other changes, such as corrections, apply when we post them with a new "Last updated" date.
If you do not accept a material change, you can cancel before it applies. To get back what you paid for the rest of the period, write to support@improvecv.ai before the change applies: we end your paid plan at once and refund the days left in the period you paid for, and any unused credits from a credits pack. Using the Service after a change applies means you accept it.
10. Suspension and termination
- By you: cancel a paid plan or delete your account in Settings at any time. Deleting your account ends a paid plan at once without refunding the rest of the period; within the 14 days in section 3.7, withdraw first to get back the part for credits you have not used.
- By us, at once, for misuse: we may suspend or close an account immediately, without warning, if we reasonably conclude that it has seriously or repeatedly breached these Terms, misused the Service or committed fraud. That includes abusing refunds or withdrawals, card disputes made in bad faith, and using more than one account to get more free credits or get around a limit (section 7). In these cases nothing is refunded beyond what the law requires, and the account's credits, including those from a credits pack, end with it.
- By us, at once, for other reasons: we may also suspend or close an account immediately where the law requires it, or to protect it or the Service from a security or fraud risk you did not cause. A renewal payment that fails is handled as section 3.5 describes.
- By us, with notice: for any other reason, we may end your paid plan or close your account with 30 days' notice by email.
- Whenever we end a paid plan or close an account for a reason other than your misuse, we refund the days left in the period you paid for and any unused credits from a credits pack.
- Why we did it: when we remove your content, or restrict, suspend or close your account, for breaking these Terms or the law, we email you no later than when it takes effect. We say what we decided and for how long, the facts behind it (including whether it followed a report), the section of these Terms or the law it rests on, and that a person decided it. You can reply to that email to have a person review the decision, or go to court (section 13). We leave something out only where the law requires it.
- Effect: a deleted account's profile, resumes and saved jobs are removed as our Privacy Policy describes. Sections 4.1, 4.3, 4.4, 8, 11 and 13 continue to apply.
11. Indemnity
You will cover our losses and reasonable costs from third-party claims arising from your content, your breach of these Terms or your breach of the law. If you are a consumer, this applies only to the extent the claim results from your own fault, and without affecting your mandatory rights. We will tell you promptly about any such claim, not settle it without your agreement, and cooperate reasonably.
12. General
- Events outside our control: we are not liable for failures or delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages at our infrastructure or AI providers.
- Severability: an unenforceable provision is removed and the rest stands. For a business user, it is instead limited to the minimum extent needed.
- No waiver: not enforcing a right at once does not waive it.
- Assignment: you may not transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer them to a successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, without reducing your rights.
- Entire agreement: these Terms and the plan details on the Pricing page are our whole agreement about the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
- Notices: we write to your account email address; you write to the addresses in section 14.
- Language: the English version governs over any translation.
13. Governing law and disputes
Dutch law governs these Terms and the Service, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in. You may bring proceedings in the courts of your country or in the court in Breda, the Netherlands (Rechtbank Zeeland-West-Brabant), and we will bring proceedings against you only in the courts of the country you live in.
If you are not a consumer, the court in Breda, the Netherlands (Rechtbank Zeeland-West-Brabant) has exclusive jurisdiction.
Before going to court, please write to info@improvecv.ai so we can try to resolve it. EU consumers may also complain to their national consumer authority or an alternative dispute resolution body.
